Brian.C. Kerman

Brian, born in Subiaco in 1931, attended St Aloysius Convent School, St Ildephonsus, and St Louis School, Claremont (1942-1949)

He commenced an engineering cadetship in 1950 with Forwood Down Ltd , and studied  at both  Perth and Leederville Technical Colleges for diplomas in structural engineering and building together with a Builders Registration. 

At Forwood Down he was responsible for the management of all field construction activities, which included projects such as – Cockburn Cement Works; Perth Council House; and in various projects in Kuala Lumpur – oil reserve  tanks.

Brian had a senior management role in their joint venture with Des Moine Steel Co [USA] to construct significant structures at the Alcoa Alumina Refinery at Kwinana. He became the  Deputy General Manager at Forwood Down.

In 1981 he established Kerman Contracting Pty Ltd. It grew rapidly and in its 37 years of successful existence has completed projects totalling in excess of  $2 billion. The company specialised in the design, project management and construction of major infrastructure projects; process plants and bulk storage and handling facilities.

Brian inducted his 4 sons into the business. And on his retirement Christopher took over as managing director. Brian remains as Board chairman. The boys are its directors. It is currently playing a significant role in the construction phase of the new lithium industry.

Brian sees the need for support of young Catholic students, in its many forms especially those in need. Increasingly,Brian sees the importance of assisting in the important work undertaken by the Catenian Youth Support Project and the Youth Charity Inc.
